This should be easy to figure out. With Adobe’s recent acknowledgement that it makes sense to make features “discoverable”, we should not have to work very hard to figure out how to change the measurement scale in a PDF.
Granted, not many Acrobat X Professional users care about measuring, much less how to change the measurement scale, but those who do care need easy access to the answer. Don’t ask me why, but as of 1/30/2012, it still does not appear on the appropriate Help page, despite several users asking specifically how to do it.
Here’s how:
- The measuring scale can be embedded in the PDF as it is created. If you would like to change it, choose View > Tools > Analyze to open the Analyze panel.
- Click on the Measuring tool, and then pick one of the Measurement types: Distance, Area or Perimeter.
- Hover over the page and right click (Mac OS: Control+click) and chose Change Scale Ratio from the context menu.
- Enter the preferred scale ratio in the dialog box:
- When you pick OK, you will see the updated scale ratio, as long as you still have the Measuring tool selected in the Analyze panel:
